Research Interests: My research examines the importance of motor competence from a developmental and health perspective. I am primarily interested in (1) examining how motor competence, perceived motor competence, and physical activity support current and future health, and (2) designing and implementing evidence-based interventions to improve these outcomes.

Research Interest: I am interested in motor skill development, factors that
influence motor skill development, and the role of motor skill development in
supporting other aspects of child development in children with and without
developmental disabilities. I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor and I have
worked as a behavioral therapy implementer for children with Autism.

Research Interest: Supporting children to develop greater perceptions of their
motor competence and improve their motor development as well as the impact of
psychological factors (e.g., anxiety, depression) on motor development and health
outcomes.

John Adams

John is fascinated with numbers and analyzing data, it is a fascinating puzzle that constantly challenges his mind. Over the years, he has had the privilege of coaching and mentoring talented young children, nurturing their potential, and helping them develop essential skills. He is eager to combine his passion for numbers and his experience with tutoring to be a positive influence on future generations. While his major remains undeclared, John is excited to explore academic paths that allow him to delve into the fields of data analysis and kinesiology.
Madison Bray

Major: Movement Science
Madison is deeply enthusiastic about working with children, most recently spending her summers volunteering with critically-ill children at a local children’s hospital and working as a behavioral therapist with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She hopes to apply knowledge gained through her involvement in the CMAH lab as she pursues a future as an occupational therapist for individuals with physical and cognitive impairments.
Andrea Nicole Cadima

Major: Movement Science
Andrea has always been heavily engaged with the development of children through working at various summer camps, volunteer opportunities, and as a soccer and tennis coach in her community. She has found her true passion in helping foster and encourage happier and healthier lifestyles with younger kids. Andrea is also involved in this lab with a goal to gain a better understanding of fine motor skills, to help set her up for her dream of becoming a pediatrician in the future.
Imani Drame

Major: Movement Science
Imani has the passion and drive for helping, encouraging, and nurturing children, adolescents, and teens, especially those with special and unmet needs. Whether working in daycare, building a childcare business, or serving as an athletic trainer for high school teams, she always makes her mark. Imani’s goal is to parlay her Kinesiology training and education into a career serving neurodivergent youth as a physical therapist.
Emma Grace Field

Emma is passionate about child development and has a strong interest in understanding how motor skill acquisition influences physical health in early childhood. With experience in working with children as a tutor and a dedication to evidence-based research, she is excited to contribute to the CMAH lab's efforts to promote healthy physical development. Emma aims to apply the skills and knowledge she gains in the lab to her future career in pediatric health, where she hopes to make a lasting impact on children's well-being.
Daley Elizabeth Fitzpatrick

Major: International Studies , Spanish
Daley is passionate about understanding the impact of motor skill development on various aspects of life and longevity, which aligns with her goal of attending medical school. Her extensive service work in Peru, Tanzania, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico City has fueled her commitment to ensuring that people, especially those in poverty, feel cared for and supported. Through her involvement in the CMAH lab, Daley is dedicated to further understanding how motor skill development can positively influence individuals throughout their lives.
Olivia Angela Henn

Olivia has a passion for working with children and studying childhood development. During the school year, she enjoys volunteering in the Ann Arbor community to support the Special Olympics, the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and the Alzheimer’s Association. Through her involvement in the CMAH lab, she hopes to gain a deeper understanding of health concerns and intervention methods for youth populations and apply this knowledge to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry.
Candice Andrea Hsu

Candice has a passion and background in working with children through coaching sports, summer camps, and in school settings. She is interested in pursuing a career in pediatric physical therapy and is also interested in the sports psychology field as she values physical and mental health equally. Candice wishes to contribute to the improvement of physical activity for youth through this lab and enjoys giving back to her community through volunteering.
Sophia Leone
Graduation Year: 2026
Major: Applied Exercise Science
Sophia is a junior interested in pursuing a degree in physical therapy. Her enthusiasm for anatomy was discovered through a series of internships in pediatric PT clinics as well as her own time spent in physical therapy as a child. She one day hopes to foster an environment that allows children to have the same positive experience in physical therapy as she once had.
Dayssi Josephine Phills

With a background in tutoring, sports coaching, and mentoring kids with diverse needs, backgrounds, and interests, Dayssi has always found this work to be an integral part of her life, which she loves pursuing in the CMAH lab. She thrives in hands-on environments and is eager to combine her enthusiasm for working with children with her interests in motor control and development to do meaningful work with a wide-scale impact. Dayssi's work in the CMAH lab aligns perfectly with her long-term goals of working in physical medicine and rehabilitation, particularly with pediatric populations.

Driven by a passion for working with children and a fascination with the science of human movement, Alanna is committed to enhancing health outcomes through physical activity, particularly for children at risk of future health disparities. Alanna aspires to build a career in clinical settings, potentially as a pediatric physician's assistant or occupational therapist.

Adelaide is passionate about working with children, whether through tutoring, helping in after-school programs, or babysitting. She is excited to learn more about child development and movement while assisting with the CMAH lab. Adelaide hopes to apply what she learns in the lab to medical school and eventually to working in pediatrics.

Scotland is assisting in the lab to enhance her research skills and deepen her understanding of motor control and development. She loves working with children and is dedicated to helping them appreciate the importance of physical activity. After graduation, Scotland intends to attend medical school and in hopes of becoming a professional sports team physician.
